FEMA banned reporters from speaking to refugees

Thanks to Chinese Chi for tipping me off to this story. Rather than spamming my comments, why don’t you start your own blog so I can link to you?
This news is two weeks old by now but the main thing that surprises me about it is that hardly anyone heard about it. I’m reposting it for those of us You’d think this would be as big as the wiretapping story, but I never read it in any major news sources. The main sources are WorldNetDaily, FAIR, and the Baton Rouge Advocate.

“You are not allowed to be here,” the guard is quoted as telling the reporter. “Get out right now.” The guard reportedly called police to force the journalist to leave the camp, and even prevented the reporter from giving the interview subject a business card. “You will not give her a business card,” the guard said. “She’s not allowed to have that.”

Later, at another FEMA camp in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana, the reporter attempted to talk to camp resident Pansy Ardeneaux through a chain link fence when the same guard halted the interview. “You are not allowed to talk to these people,” the guard told Ardeneaux. “Return to your trailer now.” The reporter said she and an accompanying photographer were “ordered…not to talk to anyone or take pictures.”

FEMA quietly reversed the policy. “Quietly” because these three news sources were once again the only places to carry the story. Here’s what FEMA told us:

“If a resident invites the media to the trailer, they have to be escorted by a FEMA representative who sits in on the interview,” said Rachel Rodi, a FEMA spokeswoman. “That’s just policy.”

“Our policies do not restrict any FEMA group site resident from speaking to members of the media. Likewise, there is no policy that requires a FEMA representative to be present when a resident talks with the media.” –James Stark, director of FEMA Louisiana Transitional Recovery Office

“We’re responding to your criticism.” –James Stark changing the policy he denied ever existing in the first place

No investigation was issued, and there was no explanation for why they ever had this illegal and un-Constitutional policy. That’s our accountable government!

  1. FEMA may be covering its own ass by blocking reports about badly the refugees were treated by FEMA, but it certainly smacks of a cover-up, or worst yet, limiting access the way a dictatorship would. This is not classified, and free speech is a right of every American. Or is it?

  2. Check this one out.

I heard with my own ears the head of FEMA say (let slip) that they went to NEW YORK on the evening of sept 10 2001 so they would be in place for the morning.

How did they know what was about to happen when even the CIA says they had no fricken idea.

You all know why, because USA Govt did it.

3.4 of the supposed hijackers are STILL ALIVE and can be contacted TODAY.

    Try it yourselves.

Sorry Shii, I don’t know how to start my own blog and I haven’t got that much to say anyway.

I will try not to post much on your site but I like it the best out of all the sites I have had time to visit.

good work, sorry if i upset you with the cut and paste.

  3. Check out this lady’s story about a FEMA camp in Oklahoma that she tried to bring food and clothes to, along with her family, very strange stuff going on.
